Nearly 70% of drugs target plasma membrane proteins in cells. Over 85% of the thousands of plasma membrane proteins, however, are undruggable, meaning they cannot be drug targets due to insufficient structural data on the plasma membrane proteins of cells.
Consequently, at Porosome.AI, we continually map the 3D atomic structure of the porosome and porosome proteins to develop proprietary universally generalized AI models to understand protein-protein interactions at the atomic level of the nearly 30 proteins that make up the porosome secretory nanomachine at the cell plasma membrane in all human tissues. This will enables the identification, design and development of new and novel drugs to prevent, treat and cure diseases resulting from secretory disorders.
In AI drug development in this domain, “System Design” methodologies such as the software framework and the loops and logic that enable an AI to observe, think and take action are known. Likewise, “Tool Integration” and “Environment Setup” features like the user interface for an AI agent to operate in a real-world setting are at an advanced stage. But the “Knowledge Inputs” that are essential here, namely, the molecular and atomic structures of porosome proteins and their interaction, are currently unavailable. The primary objective of Porosome.AI is to provide these “Knowledge Inputs” and to finetune its AI agents so as to correctly predict outcomes and appropriately respond to specific inputs
As proof of concept prototypes, the Company has used its Knowledge Inputs to develop over 10 new proprietary peptide and small molecule drugs for the treatment of Alzheimer’s and Type II Diabetes. The efficacy and safety of some of these drugs have already been rigorously assessed using both human organoid systems and animal models of the disease.
